Day 5: Chicahhgo to Des Moines, IA

Our time in Chicago was short and sweet. We stayed at T's and Dana Fine came to pay a visit.
The two kallahs

Before leaving Chicago we decided to take advantage of the food offerings. We had Bagel Country for breakfast (where they call an Egg and Cheese an "Eggel". Let me tell you, an Egg and Cheese is way better) and then went 20 minutes out of the way to pick up dinner for later at Romanian. We were expecting something closer to what we got at PKD in LA but instead our turkey sandwiches consisted of turkey, bread and a dip of mustard. I guess for $3.50 I shouldn't complain.

Then it was finally time to hit the road again, Des Moines bound. We were fortunate enough to pass through President Ronald Reagan's childhood home! I'm not sure why we decided to actually get off the highway, but we did. We wised up and didn't actually waste our time. Sorry Dixon, IL.

From then on it was more of the same:
Wind energy!
I was just waiting for a funnel cloud

Look at all the .... nothingness?

Until we finally made some progress:

About 2hrs from Des Moines is a big Tanger outlet. Compared to the likes of Woodbury Commons, this place was desolate. This didn't stop us from loading the car with even more stuff though- there was some real good metzias.

We finally made it to our hotel for the night in West Des Moines and had a good night's rest. Unfortunately there's a lot of rain in the forecast for this part of the country so I'm not sure if we'll get to do any of the 3 (!) things there is to do, like tour the state Capitol and see where the Iowa senators work (wow!).
